Student Illness

If your child has been not feeling well, your child can return to Journey once they have not had a fever, cough, diarrhea, or vomiting for 24 hours (without having taken medication during those 24 hours). They should feel well enough to take part in normal activities.

Parent Volunteer Responsibilities

Parents will complete a volunteer commitment each year. The exact number of time commitments/slots per family will be determined by the number of families taking classes with Journey Co-op. An explanation of jobs will be available online once you are registered. Each family is required to sign up for their volunteer spot by September 6, 2022 or before. Families that have failed to sign up may have a volunteer spot assigned to them.

If a parent is unable to complete a volunteer commitment due to illness or emergency, it is the parent’s responsibility to find a replacement.

MEDICAL TREATMENT AUTHORIZATION FOR A MINOR

in the event of an emergency concerning your child(ren).

In case of an emergency or illness, Journey Homeschool Association will attempt first to contact the parent(s) to inform them of the child(ren)'s status. If the parent(s) cannot be reached, Journey will then attempt to contact the emergency contact person(s) listed by the parent in the original online registration form, prior to contacting emergency medical services/providers.

A medical release form will be signed during registration/enrollment.

Weather Cancellation

Snow/winter weather

Journey Co-op will follow the same weather cancellation as Byron Center Public Schools. Please listen for this on WoodTV, WCSG, or another local news station.

If weather conditions warrant cancelling classes, an email will be sent out by 7:30 a.m.

Make-up days:  A makeup day will be designated within the school calendar year.

If we do not have 3 or more snow days prior to the designated make-up day, we will not meet on that date (1-2 days means we will not make up those days; a snow/cancellation day that occurs after the designated makeup day will not be made up due to families, teachers, and staff beginning to make plans as we approach our last day of school for the year)

Tornado safety

In the case of a tornado warch or warning for Kent County:

Journey Co-op will follow the same weather cancellation as Byron Center Public Schools.

    * If a watch or warning is issued prior to the start of the day, we will cancel all classes for that day.

    * If a watch is issued during the school day, we will cancel all classes and all students will be sent home immediately.  Please have a plan in place to get to your child as soon as possible.

    * If a warning is issued during the school day, we must take shelter with the children and teachers in the inner rooms of our building.  A pickup plan for students will be determined after the warning has passed or if/when it is downgraded to a watch.

Journey Homeschool Association admits students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin.
